What is the scalp micro pigmentation treatment process?
Scalp micropigmentation treatments are performed over a series of 3-5 sessions. The SMP treatments are done at 1-2 week intervals and a 3-4 week interval for your last treatment. Each session is 2-3 hours long in the comfort of a private treatment room. At that time, you can relax or watch TV while we work the magic. SMP lasts several years but lifestyle and UV can make the SMP fade faster. We recommend wearing a hat or a quality SPF to protect your scalp micropigmentation. When SMP does fade, it fades evenly and you can schedule an SMP touch up treatment.
Is there any maintenance or recovery from SMP treatments?
Recovery from SMP is a walk in the park but there are a couple of important rules. The scalp must remain dry for 4 days following treatment. No sweating, no showers, and no water on the new impressions. After 4 days, you can use a mild baby shampoo but no scrubbing throughout the treatment process. There's almost no long-term maintenance other than protecting it from UV to prolong results.
Is SMP effective for gray, blonde, or white hair?
SMP is effective for all hair colors because we are matching the color of the follicle if the hair was to be shaved. That being said, it is not necessary to shave the head if we are adding density to overall diffuse thinnning. It is necessary to keep the hair shaved in cases where we are creating a "buzz cut" look.
Scalp micropigmentation with hair?
Scalp Micropigmentation for someone with hair adds the look of density and eliminates the contrast from scalp-show-through. It is remarkavbly effective and you're only regret will be that you didn't do it sooner.
Scalp micropigmentation or hair transplant?
Scalp micropigmentation and hair transplant go together like peanut butter & jelly. Whether you're considering a hair transplant or you've already had several, SMP is a necessity. Hair transplant doctors are our best source of referrals because SMP preserves donor hair, adds density, camouflages the scars, and ultimately, makes the results even better. SMP doesn't inhibit hair growth and there are no contraindications to getting SMP before or after a hair transplant.
Are there other names for scalp micropigmentation?
Scalp micropigmentation is referred to by a lot of different names. SMP, hair tattoo, scalp tattoo, micropigmentation hair, skull micropigmentation, cosmetic hair tattoo, and scalp microblading are just a few of the names. In most cases, SMP is the name of choice for providers, because as you already know, it takes effort to say scalp micropigmentation, and even more effort to type it.
